We have returned from our last summer family adventure as a family of 4. Next time we hit the road for a trip we will be sporting one more little lady. Lets hope she is as GREAT of a traveller as our others.
We had an 540 mile drive each way to our destination. We left home on Wednesday afternoon after lunch/bath (hopes little girls would fall asleep) to arrive at relatives house at 11 pm. A 20 minute nap is all that one of the two little ladies had all the way there. But luckily, they were AMAZING.
The first stop request wasn't because of either little girl (no diapers were worn) or because of pregnant mama it was because of the HUBBY I guess he missed the note to use the washroom before we left home. So 2 hours into our drive we stop for a quick pee break. Then we drove a little while longer to realize we should have filled up with gas at our last stop in order to make it till dinner time. So another stop & that was the end of little misses 20 minute nap because you might as well all pee if we are stopped. Then it's back into the truck to get a few more hours under our belts before stopping for dinner. The girls only asked if we were there less that a dozen times collectively which I think is great for the number of hours we were in the truck!
I don't know how our parents ever travelled with kids, no car seats to keep everyone on their own side of the vehicle & no portable DVD players to keep the kids watching their own movies. We owe a lot of thanks to the maker of the portable DVD player & the "fairy" who gave it to the girls it is a SANITY saver!!!
The girls were equally as good on the drive home after having their sleep & schedule messed up for 4 days. This time we drove all day long. But again change out the movie/show when ever it stopped & we were golden. Bed time was a little hairy with 2 very tired little girls who again refused to nap/sleep on the drive home.
Today the ladies are SOOOOOO excited to be playing with their own toys in their own space I haven't heard a peep out of them!
