Peer Pressure

Our Little swimmer did amazing yesterday! We had our first kids pool party 15 kids & parent over for an afternoon of swimming fun! Our eldest has been splashing around all summer without putting her face in. Yesterday watching all her friends swimming, she decided she could do it too. She got on her swim goggles & under she went.. WOW.. I love this kind of peer pressure!

Summer Fun

I have great memories of summer when I was little. I was lucky to live in a town where I could go down the street to the neighbours & my mother didn't need to worry. We would be outside from dawn till dusk all summer long. One of my favorite things to do was get apples off the tree across the street from our house. The owner of the apple tree wasn't always too happy with us doing this but BOY where they good apples. My favorite time to pick the apples was when they were really small & SOUR!!

I was soo excited this weekend while weeding one of the many gardens in our yard to discover that we had an apple tree. For some reason last year we didn't get any apples from it but this year YUMMY. The girls were with me & I showed them the tree & the tiny apples. I picked us each an apple & YUMMY. The girls weren't as excited as I was to enjoy these SOUR apples (nor was hubby) but I must have eaten 3-4 of them (they are small 2-3 bites at the most). I can't wait till the apples grow. Just maybe the girls & I will be baking apple pies this fall!

HOT

It is SUMMER YAHOOO.. I can't believe how quickly the weather changes here. One day its COLD & you need a sweater & the next you need your toenails painted & flip flops out. It's so hot here we are inside this afternoon due to fatigue from a morning of playing in the sun (with hats on of course) but boy is it hot. Oh when oh when will the pool open?

Travel

We have returned from our last summer family adventure as a family of 4. Next time we hit the road for a trip we will be sporting one more little lady. Lets hope she is as GREAT of a traveller as our others.

We had an 540 mile drive each way to our destination. We left home on Wednesday afternoon after lunch/bath (hopes little girls would fall asleep) to arrive at relatives house at 11 pm. A 20 minute nap is all that one of the two little ladies had all the way there. But luckily, they were AMAZING.

The first stop request wasn't because of either little girl (no diapers were worn) or because of pregnant mama it was because of the HUBBY I guess he missed the note to use the washroom before we left home. So 2 hours into our drive we stop for a quick pee break. Then we drove a little while longer to realize we should have filled up with gas at our last stop in order to make it till dinner time. So another stop & that was the end of little misses 20 minute nap because you might as well all pee if we are stopped. Then it's back into the truck to get a few more hours under our belts before stopping for dinner. The girls only asked if we were there less that a dozen times collectively which I think is great for the number of hours we were in the truck!

I don't know how our parents ever travelled with kids, no car seats to keep everyone on their own side of the vehicle & no portable DVD players to keep the kids watching their own movies. We owe a lot of thanks to the maker of the portable DVD player & the "fairy" who gave it to the girls it is a SANITY saver!!!

The girls were equally as good on the drive home after having their sleep & schedule messed up for 4 days. This time we drove all day long. But again change out the movie/show when ever it stopped & we were golden. Bed time was a little hairy with 2 very tired little girls who again refused to nap/sleep on the drive home.

Today the ladies are SOOOOOO excited to be playing with their own toys in their own space I haven't heard a peep out of them!

I am back

okay so I jumped into this Blog world back in April & it's now September & here is my second post. That's pretty bad I know. But who knew summer had started all ready & that it would be as wonderful as it was. Actually it's not over yet! We are still experiencing 90 degree weather & my two little ladies keep asking when the snow is coming. Hopefully not for a long time but I guess they are done with the HOT HOT weather!

So I will try to come back & post on a more regular basis lets just hope I can get the hang of being a blogger.
