Over the weekend my eldest & I had a disagreement about something (I can't even remember what it was). But that day (we weren't even at lunch time yet) seemed to be a day of reminding her the rules, manors & how to treat her sister. I think I used up all my words before lunch! So I finally just walked away & went & sat in my new sanctuary the NURSERY in the rocking chair with my hand on my belly feeling my newest little one kick.. I find that to be very calming, relaxing & enjoying. But it wasn't long before I was found by the eldest wanting to cuddle my belly. I kindly asked her for some more alone time for mommy & her response nearly knocked me off my chair
- if you wanted alone time away from your kids then you should not have had any kids
We promptly left the nursery & I went into my master bath to tell hubby what our eldest who isn't even in school yet just advised me.. & his response was
- I can see the two of you going head to head A LOT...
Boy aren't we lucky. You try to raise very independent young ladies & it some times comes to bit you right back. I'm very glad my daughter can think on her own but sometimes you just don't want your baby saying things like that to you.. oh well I'm sure it will only get "better" as the years go on & I will have 3 little ladies to raise & go through PMS with...oh the fun we will have at our house!!
Other great things my eldest has said when she hasn't like a rule we have:
- when I'm a mommy if my kids want cookies at the grocery story I will get them some
- when I'm a mommy if my kids want to eat out every day we will
- when I'm a mommy if my kids want to take 10 dolls in the truck I will let them (1 baby is our rule & apparently this does not make her very happy)
- when I'm a mommy my kids can be saucy & I won't mind or get angry!
- when I'm a mommy my kids won't have to hold my hand in the parking lot
I'm keeping a list of them & hopefully someday when she's married & announces she's pregnant I will provide her with her rules of motherhood. We'll see how many she actually put into her parenting style.
